Textile - Textile - Conversion to yarn: Because filaments, such as silk and the synthetic fibres, have extreme length, they can be made into yarn without the spinning operation necessary for the shorter staple fibres. When grouped together in a loose, continuous rope without twist, synthetic filaments are called tow. Filaments may be loosely twisted together to form yarns of a specified thickness. Between mills, the conversion cost differed considerably in all the counts, ranging from about 20 per cent to over per cent, find J Sreenivasan and D Shanmuganandam.. In yarn manufacturing, conversion cost is defined as the combination of various expenses that are involved in fibre to yarn conversion.

This book is organised into nine different chapters. Chapter 1 focuses on the systems for linear density of yarn, and their inter-conversion. Chapter 2 addresses the winding calculations. Chapter 3 and 4 are dedicated to warping and sizing calculations respectively. Chapter 5 is cloth. Knitting Calculator - Calculate Yarn Requirements for Knitting Projects. A weave structure is affected by its sett, that is, the ratio of warp to weft yarns. A balanced fabric or weave has one warp yarn to every weft yarn, a ratio of An unbalanced fabric has significantly more of one set of yarns than the other.

In a balanced weave, warp and weft yarns are usually of similar density or count. Get this from a library. Weaving: conversion of yarn to fabric.

To start the fabric in my weave, I followed the same steps as when I weave with yarn. I left an end tail of 2 or 3 inches behind my warp threads and then wove as I normally would. Once I got to 2 or 3 inches left of the fabric strip, I put it behind my warp threads as another end tail that I would weave.
