/5 stars Apollo’s Outcasts somehow manages to be nostalgic and refreshing at the same time. Jamey is a wonderful character to follow, and Steele really should be heralded for his understanding and adept use of science. While this book is billed as young adult, it’s easy to see how it could appeal to an audience that spans all ages/5(51).
Apollo's Outcasts is another slam dunk for this author. It begins with Jamey Barlowe, the main male character, and his sister being sent to the Moon, along with five other kids, after a political uprising in the United States. One of the other kids has a secret which is revealed once they get to the Moon, and the book follows Jamey's adventures /5(40).
Basically the story is a coming of age adventure for Jamey and his friends and culminates in a brief war with the new oppressive regime in the USA after Apollo cuts off its Helium 3. All ends happily which is what you would expect in a book like this.
It's definitely not very deep but I found Apollo's Outcasts most enjoyable. Five stars/5(40). Apollo's Outcasts (Book): Steele, Allen M.: Jamey Barlowe has been crippled since childhood, the result of being born on the Moon.

This is pretty high praise, but it is well deserved. Reading OUTCASTS, a tale of teenagers who barely escape capture to become political exiles on the moon, brought back my own youth (a long time ago) when I first became addicted to science fiction by reading SPACE CADET /5.
On the whole, Apollo’s Outcasts is a good book, a fast read, and a story that is accessible not only to the YA audience but to an adult one as well. Allen Steele has been writing for a long time, and he knows the craft of this sort of story — anyone who’s read his Coyote series is well aware of that, and if you like this book, you should Author: Josh Roseman.
